Defence Minister Urges Intelligence Sharing Among Agencies

On Thursday, Retired General Christoph Musa, Nigeria's Defence Minister, called for an end to silo operations among security intelligence agencies during a meeting with members of the intelligence community in Abuja. He stressed the critical need for integrated intelligence to tackle Nigeria's security challenges effectively, particularly in the context of asymmetric warfare.

Musa highlighted that while security agencies operate effectively, their efforts are often fragmented, reducing their overall impact. He urged for coordinated actions among all service agencies to improve national security, emphasizing that every agency's intelligence, whether human or technical, is vital.

Musa explained that enhancing human intelligence would ensure timely and relevant information is provided for effective operations. He assured that the Ministry of Defence would support intelligence agencies in facilitating better coordination and strengthening troop capabilities in the field as Nigeria continues to battle insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping threats.
