Defence Minister Advocates Intelligence Sharing Among Agencies

On Thursday, the Defence Minister of Nigeria, Musa, called for an end to silo operations among the country's security intelligence agencies during a meeting with members of the intelligence community in Abuja. He stressed the necessity for integrated intelligence efforts to effectively address Nigeria's escalating security challenges.

Musa noted that while various security agencies are making efforts to combat threats, their operations often remain fragmented, which limits overall effectiveness. He disclosed that the President has directed improvements in collaboration across security services, emphasizing that no agency should operate in isolation.

The meeting aimed to deepen collaboration and build collective capacity to ensure intelligence gathering is effectively utilized in field operations. Musa highlighted the critical role of human intelligence in national security and assured that the Ministry of Defence would continue to support intelligence agencies to promote better coordination and enhance troop capabilities in the face of multiple security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping.
