EFCC to Investigate Deji Adeyanju and VeryDarkMan

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is preparing to investigate activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju and Martin Vincent Ots, popularly known as VeryDarkMan. This investigation is linked to allegations of terror financing and the use of illicit fund channels that threaten national security.

The probe was prompted by a petition from lawyer Bless Agbomher, filed on June 17, 2026, which requests a thorough examination of the financial activities of both individuals. Agbomher emphasized the need for scrutiny of the funding behind public protests, legal interventions, and media campaigns associated with Adeyanju and Ots.

He urged the EFCC to conduct a forensic audit of their bank accounts and assets to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering laws and financial regulations. The petition does not declare the guilt of Adeyanju and Ots but argues that the investigation is a necessary step for public accountability.

Agbomher also called for collaboration between the EFCC and national intelligence agencies to trace the funding sources.
