This incident resulted in a brief commotion at the EFCC gate. Supporters of El-Rufai gathered near a junction, while a video circulated online showing the scene.

In contrast, the EFCC dispersed a group protesting against El-Rufai, who were calling for a thorough investigation into the corruption claims associated with his tenure as governor. Recent allegations include the tapping of phone communications by national security advisers, with the EFCC and ICPC investigating corrupt activities linked to El-Rufai's administration in Kaduna State.

El-Rufai has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the probe as politically motivated persecution.
