Danjuma Goje Denies Leaving APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Danjuma Goje, the senator representing Gombe Central and former governor of Gombe State, has publicly denied any intention to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite his absence from the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) final list of candidates for the 2027 general elections. On August 22, Goje addressed his supporters at his residence, advising them to remain calm and refrain from reacting until he is ready to provide a definitive statement.

He lost the Gombe Central senatorial primary to Mohammed Ahmed, who was selected as the party's candidate for the district. Goje's supporters had previously opposed a consensus arrangement that excluded him from consideration.

With his name missing from the final candidates list, speculation has intensified regarding his political future, including potential overtures from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, which has reportedly offered him a senatorial ticket for the same district. Goje has served in the Senate since 2011 and was re-elected for a fourth term in 2023.
