INEC Declares Christoph Maikalangu Winner of AMAC Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Christoph Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election. The results were announced by Prof.

Andrew Abu at the AMAC collation center, where Maikalangu received 40,295 votes from a total of 62,861 valid votes cast. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) followed with 12,109 and 3,398 votes, respectively.

Other parties received significantly fewer votes, with the Action Alliance (AA) getting 403 votes and the Young Progressives Party (YPP) receiving 421 votes. A total of 2,336 votes were rejected, and the overall votes cast stood at 65,197, with 65,676 voters accredited from 837,338 registered voters.

APC's Gambo Babal praised the electoral process as credible and transparent, while the PDP secured two ward councillorship seats in Karu and Karishi.
