FG Declares April 3 and 6, 2026, Easter Public Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared April 3 (Good Friday) and April 6 (Easter Monday) in 2026 as public holidays to commemorate the Easter celebrations across the country. This announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government.

The statement was issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Interior, Magdalen Ajani. In his message, Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion of Easter, encouraging citizens to embrace virtues such as selflessness, forgiveness, and love, which are exemplified in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

He stressed the importance of upholding values of tolerance and unity within communities, which are essential for strengthening national cohesion. The minister also reiterated the federal government's commitment to policies aimed at promoting national rebirth and economic growth.
