FG Declares March 19-20, 2026, Public Holidays for Eid

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in observance of Eid-el-Fitr. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, on behalf of the government.

The statement was issued on Tuesday and conveyed through the ministry's permanent secretary, Magdalen Ajani. In his message, Tunji Ojo congratulated the Muslim community on the successful completion of Ramadan fasting and encouraged them to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice, which are central to the holy month.

He called on all Nigerians to use this festive period to pray for peace, unity, and the continued prosperity of the country. Furthermore, he urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged, reaffirming the government's commitment to national unity and peaceful coexistence.
