FG Announces March 19-20 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared March 19 and 20, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, which signifies the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government.

The statement was issued on a Tuesday, with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalen Ajani, also involved in the announcement. Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim community for successfully completing the fasting period and emphasized the importance of upholding values such as love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice during this festive period.

He called on Nigerians to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged. The federal government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting national unity, peace, and coexistence among all Nigerians during this significant time.
