Tinubu Government Declares Easter Public Holidays 2026

The government of President Tinubu has officially declared public holidays on Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, to commemorate the Easter celebrations. This announcement was made on Wednesday by the Ministry of Interior, represented by Minister Olubunmi Tunji Ojo.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalen Ajani, the government extended congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion of Easter. Minister Tunji Ojo urged Nigerians to embody virtues such as selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, which are exemplified in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

He emphasized that these virtues are essential for strengthening national unity. The Minister also reiterated the federal government's commitment to policies aimed at promoting national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity among Nigerians.
