Eyitayo Jegede Resigns from PDP, Ending Political Chapter

Eyitayo Jegede, who represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 and 2020 governorship elections in Ondo State, has officially resigned from the party. His resignation was communicated in a letter directed to the PDP chairman of Owode/Imuagun Ward 11, Akure South Local Government Area, dated August 7.

The letter became public on Thursday after a copy was obtained in Akure. This resignation marks the end of Jegede's long-standing association with the PDP, under which he sought the governorship twice but was unsuccessful on both occasions.

The letter specifically addressed his ward-level leadership, indicating a formal break from the party at the grassroots level. No reasons for his resignation were provided in the letter, and as of the time of reporting, Jegede had not issued any public statement to explain his decision.
