Uba Sani's Administration Transforms Kaduna Disaster Management

The Uba Sani Back2Back Movement, led by Director of Strategic Communications Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed, announced ten key milestones that have modernized disaster management in Kaduna State. This transformation, facilitated by the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), marks a shift from a reactive to a proactive approach, focusing on prediction, prevention, rapid response, and recovery.

Key initiatives include multi-hazard risk mapping across 178 vulnerable locations, decentralization of emergency response across all 23 Local Government Areas, and the establishment of 24/7 Emergency Coordination Centres. Additionally, the integration of disaster management with emergency medical evacuation services through KADSEMSAS and RESMAT enhances medical response for disaster victims.

The institutionalization of disaster-risk management through a State Disaster Risk Management Policy and the introduction of climate-shock responsive social protection are also pivotal advancements. These efforts aim to prepare communities and reduce the impact of disasters effectively.
