BREAKING: INEC Announces Age For Ongoing Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that only Nigerians aged 18 and above are eligible to register as voters in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. This announcement was made by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Yobe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, during an advocacy visit to the Emir of Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Gashua.

Abdullahi emphasized that the Electoral Act strictly permits the registration of citizens who are 18 years old and above. He highlighted the importance of voter registration in safeguarding the integrity of elections and stated that INEC is mandated by law to collaborate with stakeholders to review and update the voter register before each election.

The CVR exercise includes online registration, which began on August 18, and physical registration, scheduled to start on August 25 across INEC offices in the 17 local government areas of Yobe State. The REC urged the Emir to support INEC's.
