4.44m Nigerians Register Online for Voter Registration in 4 Weeks - INEC Updates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria reported that 4.44 million Nigerians have registered online for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the past four weeks. The online registration started on August 18, 2025, with physical registration commencing on August 25, 2025.

The INEC national commissioner, Sam Olumekun, revealed that the majority of registrants are young people aged 18-34, with students forming a significant portion. The registration process will transition to physical options in designated venues after online registration in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ends on September 15, 2025.

Subsequently, registration will devolve to ward levels in the FCT from September 29 to October 8, 2025.
