INEC Extends Voter Registration, Launches Online Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which will now run until July 26, 2026. This decision was made to expand access to voter registration across Nigeria, particularly in Taraba State.

INEC has also introduced a new online self-service voter registration platform, which will be operational from July 8, 2026. This digital platform allows first-time voters to initiate and complete their registration, including biometric data capture, using personal devices such as smartphones and computers, eliminating the need for physical visits to INEC offices.

Rachael Iyongo, head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department in Taraba State, stated that the online portal includes step-by-step guidance to facilitate a seamless registration process. INEC encourages eligible residents of Taraba State who have not yet registered to take advantage of the extended registration period and the newly introduced online platform.
