INEC Registers Over 2.4 Million Voters in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that a total of 2,436,275 eligible Nigerians have been registered during Phase III of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) as of July 10, 2026. The registration process is ongoing, but it has been suspended in Osun State due to the forthcoming gubernatorial elections, in accordance with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The data reveals that 823,324 individuals completed online registration, while 1,612,951 registered physically across the country. Among the registered voters, 1,278,444 are female, representing 52.48%, and 1,157,831 are male, accounting for 47.52%.

The age distribution shows that 1,644,885 registrants, or 67.52%, are aged 18-34, while 527,882 registrants, or 21.67%, are aged 35-49. Additionally, 240,816 elderly individuals aged 50-69 represent 9.88%, and 22,692 individuals aged 70 and above account for 0.93%.

The data also indicates that 576,682 students registered, making up 23.67% of the total, with various other demographics represented.
