INEC Registers 3.87 Million New Voters Ahead of 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that 3,867,997 Nigerians successfully completed the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the end of Phase III, Week Eleven, which concluded on Sunday, July 26, 2026. The total number of new registrants across all three phases reached approximately 10,188,755, with the first phase recording 2,572,054 registrations and the second phase adding 3,748,704.

Currently, Nigeria has over 93 million registered voters. INEC will conduct a de-duplication process for the new registrants to ensure accuracy before updating the National Register of Voters.

Of the new registrants, 2,697,863 registered physically, while 1,170,134 registered online. Kano State had the highest registrations at 330,906, followed by Lagos State with 181,254 and Delta State with 166,895.

Notably, Osun State recorded no registrations during this period due to a suspension of the CVR exercise ahead of an upcoming governorship election, as per Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.
