INEC Postpones Nationwide Voter Revalidation to 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the postponement of its proposed nationwide voter revalidation exercise, originally scheduled to occur before the 2027 Nigerian general elections. This decision was reached during a commission meeting held on April 10.

Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the chairman of the voter education committee, stated that the exercise is a key component of INEC's mandate to maintain credible and updated national voter registration. The exercise was designed to verify and review existing voter records to ensure the accuracy of personal data, eliminate duplicate and ineligible entries, and strengthen the overall integrity of the voter registration process.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections across Nigeria.
