Kogi Security Forces Prevent Terror Attack on Community

On June 6, 2026, at 7:00 PM, armed men attempted to invade a community in Ikoyi, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State, with the intention of abducting residents. The Kogi State government, represented by Commissioner Kingsley Femi Fanwo, reported that a coordinated response from the Nigerian Military, Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Vigilante Service, and local hunters successfully foiled the attack.

Security agencies were alerted and responded within minutes, engaging in a gun battle that disrupted the attackers' operations, forcing them to retreat into a nearby forest. During the exchange of gunfire, one member of the local Tiv community was killed, and several others sustained injuries.

A manhunt was launched to apprehend the attackers, who fled the scene with gunshot wounds. Fanwo confirmed that the security forces' combined efforts prevented a serious security breach and ensured the safety of the community.
