Kwara APC Postpones Governorship Primary Amid Confusion

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has postponed its governorship primary election, which was initially set for May 21, to May 22. This decision was announced by Abdulwahe Babatunde, the party's state public secretary, amidst ongoing voting across several wards, leading to confusion among delegates participating in the exercise.

The postponement has sparked reactions within the APC, particularly as voting had already commenced in several centers. The situation is reportedly linked to growing disagreements among governorship aspirants following Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's public endorsement of Yahaya Seriki as his preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election.

Despite the endorsement, the governor maintained that it would not prevent other aspirants from contesting in the primary. The postponement has heightened tensions within the party as different aspirants continue to strategize for support ahead of the rescheduled primary.
