DSS Memo Exposes Boko Haram Kidnapping Plans in North-East

A leaked intelligence memo from the Department of State Services (DSS), dated July 27, 2026, has revealed a planned Boko Haram attack and kidnapping operation targeting Adamawa and Borno states. The memo, addressed to the Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yola, Adamawa State, indicates that the planned operations are a response to the collapse of a ceasefire agreement with the state governments.

The document, signed by Ben Osifor on behalf of the Adamawa State Director of Security, specifies that Boko Haram terrorists are preparing coordinated attacks in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State and Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The memo warns that the insurgents intend to abduct senior government officials, traditional rulers, and residents, specifically targeting the district head of Michika and his son.

The DSS has advised security agencies to enhance surveillance and security measures in the affected areas and to collaborate with local security volunteers to prevent the planned attacks.
