New IGP Tunji Disu Removes Benjamin Hundeyin as PRO

On Thursday morning, Tunji Disu, the newly inaugurated Inspector General of Police (IGP), officially removed Benjamin Hundeyin from his position as the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) after Hundeyin had served for six months. The decision, which has not been formally disclosed, is part of a significant personnel change within the Nigeria Police Force and coincides with a broader restructuring effort initiated by the new IGP.

This development follows less than 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu inaugurated Disu as the 23rd substantive IGP, replacing Kayode Egbetokun. Sources within the police headquarters confirmed Hundeyin's exit, and it was reported that many officers in the Public Relations Department were awaiting a new successor.

Hundeyin, who hails from Badagry, has a robust academic and professional background, including a master's degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).
