Oyo Teachers Suspend Strike Over Student Abductions

The Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) announced the suspension of its indefinite strike action on Wednesday. This decision was made after a review of the security situation in the state, particularly in response to recent student abductions in Ogbomosho and Orir Local Government Area.

The announcement was jointly signed by NUT Chairman Hassan Fatai and the union's Secretary Olukayode Salami. The union's decision to suspend the strike was made after consultations with stakeholders and an appeal to the Oyo State government to improve security measures in schools across the state.

The strike was initially called due to concerns over the safety of schoolchildren, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security protocols in educational institutions.
