Boy Shot During APC Campaign Sparks Protests in Ilesa

On Saturday morning, a protest broke out in Ilesa, Osun State, following the alleged shooting of a 12-year-old boy during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign. The boy was reportedly inside his mother’s shop when gunfire erupted.

Eyewitnesses stated that Wale Akerele, the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, was present during the incident, along with operatives of the Amotekun Corps. Allegations suggest that the Amotekun operatives and Akerele shot at APC members, resulting in injuries to several individuals.

The boy was caught in the crossfire and was later seen lying on a hospital bed, indicating he was receiving medical attention. The exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, and the condition of the injured boy, as well as the total number of injured individuals, could not be independently verified.
