Two Killed, Several Injured in Osogbo Shooting Incident

On Wednesday night, a violent shooting incident in the Owod Igbona area of Osogbo resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including Kazeem Akand, and injuries to several others. The attack occurred during a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party's gubernatorial campaign set to commence on August 15.

Witnesses suggest the violence may have stemmed from a clash between rival cult groups, although security agencies have not yet confirmed the exact circumstances. Among the injured were a 13-year-old girl, Rodiyat Ariyo, and other party members.

Former local government chairman Hon. Akinloy Isiaka had just left the venue when the shooting began. Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke condemned the violence, urging security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and prosecute those responsible.

The police confirmed that investigations are underway, with two suspects arrested in connection to a separate incident involving recovered arms and ammunition.
