ADC Demands Independent Inquiry into PFIPC Scandal

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded an independent inquiry into the PFIPC scandal, stating that only such an investigation would be acceptable. The party criticized President Bola Tinubu's decision to assign the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the allegations, arguing that the president lacks credibility in supervising the investigation.

The ADC's statement, issued on Wednesday, highlighted the need for a judicial panel to ensure a transparent and impartial inquiry. They insisted that the investigation should not focus solely on individual actions but should encompass relevant government institutions, including the office of the Chief of Staff to the President.

The ADC also condemned the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi's father, labeling it as intimidation and contrary to justice principles. They maintained that Nigerian law does not recognize vicarious criminal liability and called for the investigation's findings to be made public without redaction.
