Tinubu Dismisses IGP Egbetokun, Appoints Tunji Disu

On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the removal of Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun from his position. Egbetokun is set to be succeeded by Assistant Inspector General Tunji Disu, who is currently in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) annex in Alagbon, Lagos.

Sources indicated that Egbetokun was informed at the Presidential Villa to prepare for the handover, which is believed to have already occurred. The decision comes amid controversies surrounding Egbetokun's health concerns and allegations of incompetence.

Reports suggest that police officers expressed jubilation upon hearing about the new appointment. The situation has been described as a result of Egbetokun's alleged inability to effectively manage his role, with claims of him being "power drunk" and needing to focus on his health issues, particularly related to his kidneys.
