Senator Barau Jibrin Fires Aide Over Anti-Governor Posts

On September 18, Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, terminated the employment of his Special Legislative Assistant, Umar Alhassan, known as King Indara. This decision followed Alhassan's social media posts advocating for the removal of Kano State Governor, which included the phrase "Abba Must Go." Shitu Madaki Kunchi, Senator Barau's Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, announced the dismissal, labeling Alhassan's actions as indiscipline and disrespectful, which contradicted the standards expected within Barau's office.

Senator Barau emphasized that Alhassan's behavior was inconsistent with the principles of the All Progressives Congress, to which both he and Governor Yusuf belong. Despite the fallout, Alhassan stated on his Facebook page that he remains a member of the APC, asserting that Kano belongs to Rabiu, a reference to the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
