Fintiri Imposes 24-Hour Curfew in Adamawa Amid Violence

On a Sunday night, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced a 24-hour curfew in Lamurd Local Government Area due to renewed communal violence. The curfew is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

Governor Fintiri's chief press secretary, Humeashi Wonosik, stated that the governor views the situation as disturbing and unacceptable, directing security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly to maintain law and order. Residents are urged to comply with the directive, and security agencies are tasked with restoring peace in the area.

The announcement follows reports of clashes between members of the Chobo and Bachama communities, with at least two fatalities confirmed by Suleiman Nguroj, spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command. This incident marks the fourth time a curfew has been imposed in the council area within six months due to recurring violence.
