Nigerian singer Burna Boy has broken the Spotify record for the most monthly listeners by an African artist, achieving 46.84 million listeners. This milestone surpasses the previous record of 46.58 million held by South African artist Tyla.

Burna Boy's monthly listener count has since increased to 47.3 million, positioning him to potentially become the first African artist to reach 50 million monthly listeners on the platform. This surge in streaming figures is attributed to his collaboration with Shakira on the FIFA Club World Cup song "Dai Dai," which recently climbed to the number one spot on Spotify's global top song chart.

With this achievement, Burna Boy becomes the first African artist to top this chart, a feat previously accomplished by Wizkid in 2016 during his collaboration with Drake on "One Dance.".
