Bus Conductor Stabs Traffic Officer in Lagos Incident

A bus conductor in Lagos stabbed a traffic officer from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) during a routine enforcement operation on Abeokuta Road. The incident occurred when the LASTMA patrol team apprehended the bus for obstructing traffic in the market corridor towards Abul Egba.

Mr. Olalekan Bakar Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, condemned the violent act, stating that the officer was attacked with a screwdriver, inflicting stab wounds during the altercation.

The injured officer was immediately evacuated to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment and is currently responding positively. The police were notified, and the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Bakar Oki expressed concern over the hostility directed at traffic management personnel and emphasized that the Lagos State Government will not tolerate any form of assault or intimidation against officers performing their duties. He urged motorists and commercial transport operators to comply with traffic regulations.
