Truck Overturns in Lagos, Injures POS Operator

A serious accident occurred in Lagos when a heavily loaded articulated truck overturned along a service lane adjacent to a police tactical team station. Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), confirmed that the truck fell onto a commercial mini shuttle bus, causing critical injuries to a female POS operator conducting business under a canopy nearby.

She suffered severe leg injuries and was promptly rescued and taken to a nearby medical facility. LASTMA officials arrived quickly to manage traffic and coordinate rescue efforts, securing the affected corridor in collaboration with emergency response agencies.

The driver of the truck was subsequently apprehended by the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution. A tow truck was deployed to evacuate the overturned vehicle, and the Oril Iganmu police division commenced a preliminary investigation into the crash.

Despite the severity of the accident, traffic movement in the area remained largely uninterrupted due to the swift intervention of traffic management officials. Olalekan Bakar Oki, the general manager of LASTMA, urged logistics firms to ensure proper mechanical checks on heavy-duty trucks to prevent such incidents.
