Controversy Erupts Over Federal University Wukari's Origins

The controversy surrounding the establishment of the Federal University Wukari has intensified, as former Senator Emmanuel Bwacha asserts he played a crucial role in bringing the institution to Wukari, Taraba State. Bwacha, who served as the senator for Taraba South from 2011 to 2023, claimed during a podcast interview that he presented the idea to the late Governor Danbaba Suntai, downplaying Chief Damian Dodo's contributions.

However, documentary evidence reveals that Dodo was formally recognized for his significant influence in securing the university's location. A letter dated February 6, 2022, from the Southern Taraba Academics’ Forum nominated Dodo for a Special Award of Excellence, citing his role in establishing the university.

Dodo's contributions were acknowledged publicly, contrasting Bwacha's claims that minimized Dodo's involvement. The evidence suggests that without Dodo's intervention, Taraba could have lost the university to Yobe.
