N600m Pledged for JIBWIS University in Bauchi State

During a One-Day National Symposium in Jos, themed “Enhanced Political Participation and Social Justice as a Panacea for Unity and Development in Nigeria,” Kabiru Masari and Governor Mai Mala Buni pledged a total of N600 million for the construction of a university established by Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa’ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State. Masari announced his pledge of N300 million, which was matched by Governor Buni, who also pledged N300 million.

Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, the JIBWIS National Chairman of the Ulama’u Council, called on Muslims nationwide to contribute to the university's construction, asserting that it would serve both Christians and Muslims. He urged individuals and politicians, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, to fulfill their previous pledges.

Jingir has faced criticism for his political endorsements, particularly his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, which has raised concerns about the intersection of religion and politics.
