NDC Responds to Governor Yusuf's Bye-Election Comments

The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a response to comments made by Governor Abba Yusuf concerning the party's absence in the recent Dawakin Kudu/Warawa federal constituency bye-election. NDC spokesperson Sunusi Batur noted that the governor's remarks were aimed at scoring cheap political points.

NDC Chairman Hussaini Isa Mai Riga stated that the party's decision to not participate in the bye-election does not indicate weakness but rather a strategic focus on consolidating grassroots support across Kano State in preparation for the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that the NDC aims to invest in political education and policy development to address issues such as unemployment and economic hardship faced by citizens.

Mai Riga expressed confidence in the party's alignment with the Kwankwasiyya movement and urged members to remain calm and engaged in political activities while calling on security agencies to ensure a level playing field.
