BYM and MACBAN Clash Over Alleged Killings in Plateau

The Berom Youth Moulder (BYM) and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) are engaged in a dispute regarding alleged violent attacks in Plateau State. BYM issued a statement on Tuesday, describing MACBAN's narrative as misleading.

The conflict escalated after MACBAN's chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, accused Berom militia of killing a 15-year-old herder, Sadi Aliyu, in Jos South Local Government Area on June 5, 2026. Babayo reported that the herder was attacked while tending to cattle, resulting in the death of 13 cattle and 11 missing.

In response, BYM's Rwang Tengwong claimed that MACBAN's allegations were unfounded and highlighted that their community has been suffering from attacks by armed Fulani bandits. Tengwong mentioned specific incidents, including the ambush of community members, leading to injuries and fatalities.

BYM condemned the loss of innocent lives and called for a thorough investigation into the incidents.
