MACBAN Blames Berom Groups for Violence in Plateau State

The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has publicly accused the Berom Youth Moulder Association (BYM) and the Berom Diaspora Coalition (BDC) of being responsible for future violent attacks in local communities, particularly in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas. During a press conference on Wednesday, MACBAN called on the state government and security agencies to hold these Berom groups accountable.

They described Mahanga Community in Riyom as a terrorist enclave and a stronghold for armed Fulani bandits. MACBAN's statement, signed by its state chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, rejected the claims made by the BDC as baseless and provocative, capable of escalating tensions in Plateau State.

They emphasized that Mahanga Community has remained peaceful and law-abiding, with no evidence of harboring criminal elements. MACBAN urged the Plateau State government and federal authorities to monitor public statements from these groups to prevent incitement of conflict and disruption of public peace.
