MACBAN Denies Involvement in Benue Killings, Calls for Probe

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has denied any involvement in the recent killings in Benue State, specifically in Otukpo Local Government Area, where 16 individuals were reportedly killed. In a statement issued on Monday by Ibrahim Galma, the state secretary of MACBAN, the association condemned the attacks and urged the public to refrain from hastily linking the incidents to Fulani herders without proper investigation.

Galma emphasized that no Fulani individuals reside in Otukpo and highlighted that there had been previous conflicts leading to the eviction of Fulani residents from the area. He also mentioned that the Otukpo community has ongoing disputes that could be contributing factors to the violence.

MACBAN called for calm and urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, warning against inflammatory comments on social media that could escalate tensions.
