MACBAN Petitions Plateau Governor Over Cattle Poisoning

The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) submitted a petition to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the Department of State Services (DSS), and OPEP on April 23, 2026. The petition addresses a series of alleged attacks on herders and the poisoning of cattle in the Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas.

MACBAN's state chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, highlighted incidents occurring between April 18 and 23, 2026, where herders reported the poisoning of their livestock. Specific cases included the poisoning of ten cows in Rakung village on April 18, nine cattle in Lokojora on April 20, and an unspecified number along the Ndings axis on April 22 and 23.

Despite these reports, no arrests have been made. The association urged security agencies to investigate these incidents to prevent further occurrences and ensure the safety of the Fulani herder community, while also appealing for state government support and urging members to remain calm.
