BYM Raises Alarm Over Death Threats to President Mwantiri

The Berom Youth Moulder (BYM) has expressed alarm regarding alleged death threats against its president, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, due to his outspoken stance against violence and insecurity affecting indigenous communities in Plateau State.

Rwang Tengwong, the national public secretary of BYM, reported that credible intelligence indicates an imminent threat to Mwantiri's life, linked to his advocacy against killings and land grabs by suspected Fulani bandits. The intelligence suggests a clandestine plot involving local collaborators to eliminate Mwantiri, with a bounty reportedly placed on his head.

Tengwong emphasized that this threat is a direct attack on freedom of speech and civic engagement in the region. The BYM has called on the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Army to provide adequate security for Mwantiri and to conduct a thorough investigation into the threats.

The group condemned the alleged threats as a grave assault on democracy and justice in Nigeria.
