CAF Approves 16-Team Format for 2026 Women's AFCON, Adds Four Countries

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the approval of a 16-team format for the 2026 Women's AFCON, with four additional countries joining the tournament hosted in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026. The new entrants, including Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and Egypt, will compete alongside the already qualified nations.

This expansion is part of CAF's strategy to enhance competitiveness, increase global visibility, and provide more opportunities for African women's football. The move is expected to elevate the 2026 Women's AFCON as a milestone in the steady rise of women's football across the continent.
