CAF Increases Prize Money for Champions League and Confederation Cup

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), led by President Patrice Motsepe, has announced a $2 million increase in prize money for its inter-club competitions. Starting from the 2025/26 season, the winner of the CAF Champions League will receive $6 million, marking a 50% increase from previous amounts.

The CAF Confederation Cup winner will see a 100% increase, receiving $4 million. Under Motsepe's leadership over the past five years, the prize money for the CAF Champions League has risen from $2.5 million to $6 million, representing a 140% increase.

Similarly, the prize money for the CAF Confederation Cup has increased from $1.25 million to $4 million, a 220% increase. The overall prize money allocated to African clubs has reached $42 million per season, reflecting a 114% increase compared to the $18.8 million allocated in 2021.
