Samson Adamu Appointed Acting Secretary General of CAF

On March 29, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the appointment of Samson Adamu as the Acting Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This appointment is significant as it marks the first time Nigeria has held this position in the organization's 70-year history.

Adamu succeeds V. Ron Mosengo-Omba, who resigned to contest in the presidential elections of the Democratic Republic of Congo's football federation (FECOFA).

Ademola Olajire, the NFF Director of Communications, noted that Adamu's elevation follows his extensive work in African football administration, where he played a central role in organizing major tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations. In his new role, Adamu will oversee the daily operations of CAF's general secretariat, manage staff, and ensure that financial governance standards are met.

His appointment is expected to provide stability during this transitional period until a permanent Secretary General is appointed at the next General Assembly.
