Motsepe: Infantino's Removal Must Follow Election Process

Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and a FIFA Vice President, asserted that Gianni Infantino can only be removed from his position as FIFA President through the electoral process. This statement comes in the wake of accusations from UEFA, AFC, and CONCACAF, who have labeled Infantino's recent actions as “deception” following his unsuccessful attempt to sell stakes in the World Cup to investors.

These federations have called for Infantino's resignation and have insisted that he should not seek re-election in March of the following year. Motsepe emphasized the importance of adhering to the FIFA process, stating, “If you want to take him out, go for elections; let the 211 member associations decide.” He urged caution, highlighting the upcoming elections and the need to allow the established processes to unfold.
