ADC Accuses Federal Agents of Pressuring Justice Nwite

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement on Thursday, alleging that there is a "calculated scheme" to pressure Justice Nwite to recuse himself from a judicial matter involving Nafiu Bala Gomb. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's spokesperson, claimed that the federal government is attempting to manipulate the judicial process, which they view as an attack on the independence of the judiciary.

The ADC warned that efforts to remove Justice Nwite from the case are part of a broader strategy to weaponize state institutions against opposition parties. They expressed concern over the implications of such actions, stating that they could undermine constitutional democracy in Nigeria.

The ADC called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) to intervene and urged the international community to pay attention to these developments, which they believe could erode public confidence in the judiciary. The ADC emphasized that judicial recusal should not be subject to political convenience.
