Nigeria's Women's Team Prepares for WAFCON with Cameroon Friendly

Justin Madugu, the head coach of Nigeria's women's national football team, stated that the upcoming friendly match against Cameroon will serve as a vital tool in shaping the final squad for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco. Madugu has named a 25-player roster for the double-header against the Indomitable Lionesses in Yaoundé, which will help the technical crew assess new options ahead of the continental tournament.

He emphasized that while winning is not the primary objective of the fixtures, it is essential to evaluate players, particularly newcomers. The coach expressed satisfaction with the early signs from the camp, noting the impressive level of understanding and synergy among the players.

The first friendly match is scheduled for Saturday, with the second fixture on Tuesday, March 3. Nigeria will compete in Group C of the 14th WAFCON alongside Zambia, Egypt, and tournament debutants Malawi, with the campaign opening on March 18 in Casablanca.
