CAN Condemns Ekiti Church Attack, Urges Victim Rescue

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) condemned the violent attack on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area, Ekiti State, which occurred on Tuesday night around 8:30 PM during a church program. The attack resulted in the death of a pastor and the abduction of an unspecified number of worshippers, causing panic in the community.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the president of CAN, described the incident as deeply disturbing and denounced it as a heinous act against peaceful worshippers. He expressed condolences to the family of the slain cleric and solidarity with the victims and the wider Christian community in Ekiti State.

The association called for urgent government intervention to secure the release of the abducted individuals and emphasized the need for increased security in vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks. This incident is part of a broader pattern of insecurity in the country, with similar occurrences reported in Kogi State.
