CAN Condemns Jos Killings, Urges Investigation and Action

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) condemned the killings of innocent residents during a Palm Sunday attack in Jos, Plateau State, which occurred on March 29, 2026. Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the president of CAN, described the incident as unacceptable and a stark reflection of the country's worsening security situation.

He lamented the horror inflicted upon the Christian community, stating that the day meant for peace and hope turned into a day of bloodshed, with innocent Nigerian men, women, and children hunted and killed in cold blood. Okoh raised troubling questions about citizen safety and the capacity of authorities to prevent such attacks, especially during significant religious occasions.

He stressed that the Nigerian populace no longer feels safe in their homes. The statement called for decisive action against the perpetrators, emphasizing the need for swift justice.

Okoh also urged worshippers to remain vigilant during Holy Week and advised churches to take precautionary measures while working with local security agencies.
