CAN Celebrates Rescue of Kidnapped Oyo Teachers and Pupils

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by President Archbishop Daniel Okoh, praised the successful rescue of teachers and pupils abducted from a school in Oriir Local Government Area, Oyo State, after spending 56 days in captivity. In a statement, Okoh described the rescue as a victory worth celebrating and urged the federal government to maintain momentum until every Nigerian held captive is freed.

He expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of the rescued individuals and commended President Bola Tinubu, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and various security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services, for their roles in the operation. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde was also recognized for his support during the crisis.

Okoh called for intensified intelligence gathering and community policing to ensure the safety of schools and urged humanitarian organizations to provide necessary support for the recovery of the victims from trauma.
