CAN Commends Oyo Rescue, Urges Action for Remaining Captives

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) expressed gratitude for the successful rescue of abducted individuals in Oyo State, highlighting the relief felt by families reunited with their loved ones. The statement acknowledged the collaborative efforts of security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Amotekun Corps, and local hunters, which led to this positive outcome.

CAN praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to national security and the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for his support during the crisis. However, the association urged the government not to forget the thousands of Nigerians still held captive by terrorist and criminal groups, particularly in regions like Borno State.

They called for intensified efforts to secure the release of remaining captives and for faith-based organizations and humanitarian agencies to provide necessary support for the recovery of trauma experienced by victims and their families. The statement underscored the importance of ensuring a safe educational environment for children.
